Shops can be exceedingly busy, and can be cluttered with goods. Spilled produce, wet floors, raised plinths and display areas, unlit/unmarked changes in surface level can all be hazardous when you are shopping and looking at goods. The occupier of the store has a duty to take reasonable care for the safety of people entering their premises.
